Radio Veritas is inviting the faithful to take part in the First Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession on November 3, 2017 at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.
Rev. Fr. Dexter Toledo OFM, National Coordinator of the Ecological Justice Interfaith Movement, will preside the first Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession at 10:00 am.
Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual encourages the public to take part on the said activities.
“Everyone is welcome to Our Lady of Veritas Chapel in Quezon City and take part on the First Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession. Let us profess our faith in Christ and make this endeavor as a way to pray for our departed brothers and sisters,” Fr. Anton said.
The First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is based on a promise made by our Lord Jesus Christ during an apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th century.
“In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour,” Jesus Christ said to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.
The devotion consists of several practices that are performed on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. On these days, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive communion. In many Catholic communities the practice of the Holy Hour of meditation during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the First Fridays are encouraged.
